State Government Timetable System
Eleven months inside Victoria's Department of Transport and Planning, on a system where every file is uploaded, checked, approved and audited before it reaches the public.
Eleven months delivering for a Victorian state government department: porting an Angular timetable management system to Next.js, upgrading the original from Angular 15 to 20, and migrating a separate site to the Sitecore Content SDK.
Public transport timetables move through a strict pipeline: files are uploaded, validated, processed and approved before anything reaches the public. The department's internal system for managing that pipeline was built in Angular and needed a modern front end.
Working inside the department under government security and procurement rules, our founder rebuilt the core screens in Next.js and kept the original Angular application current while the port was underway.
The Challenge
The system tracks every timetable file through validation, processing and approval, with large files archived to cold storage. Staff needed to compare versions, review validation results, follow audit history and see processing finish without refreshing. All of it had to match the department's design system and pass code review on a government delivery team.
The Solution
The work covered the file detail views with validation panels, approval workflows and archive-aware file content, a comparison builder with preset matching, contract-aware mitigation and reporting lists, an audit log viewer, and a custom data table with compact mode and grouped rows. Live polling now updates the interface when processing completes. On the original codebase the work included the Angular 15 to 20 upgrade, the Material component migration and dependency security fixes.
Why this matters for your business
Your calls, bookings and client files move through the same steps: they arrive, get checked, get approved and get filed. Our founder spent eleven months building for a team where every one of those steps had to be traceable and pass code review. Your systems get the same treatment: every field linked to where it came from, every change logged, and a person approving what matters.
What we built.
Validation and approval workflows
File detail views showing validation results, status and approval history in one place.
Version comparison
A comparison builder that matches related timetable files and deep-links to differences.
Audit trail
An audit log viewer so every change to a file can be traced.
Live processing status
Polling that updates the interface the moment background processing completes.
The outcome.
- Core timetable management screens rebuilt in Next.js and reviewed by the department's team
- Original Angular application upgraded from version 15 to 20, with security vulnerabilities remediated
- A separate public site migrated to the Sitecore Content SDK
